Starting therapy shouldn't be confusing or stressful. I’ve gathered these answers to help you feel informed and more at ease as we begin this process together.

A high-quality indoor photograph showing a couple, a man and a woman, engaged in a professional consultation. The woman is speaking expressively while the man listens attentively. They are seated on a modern beige sofa in a brightly lit room with large windows in the background. Facing them is a female professional, seen from behind, seated in a grey armchair. The setting features a minimalist coffee table with mugs, a phone, and a glass of water, all set against warm wooden floors and soft curtains, creating a mood of serious yet calm communication.

Take five minutes to reset your energy and find focus, wherever you are right now.

Real change happens in those small, quiet moments throughout the day. This practice helps settle your mind, clear away stress, and get you back to a grounded, steady state.

Common Questions About Starting Therapy

Everything you need to know to get started

Starting therapy is a significant step, and it is completely normal to have questions about how the process works. I want to provide a space where you feel comfortable and understood from the very beginning. I have put together answers to the questions I hear most often to help you feel more at ease as we start this work together.

Not at all. Whether you have been in counseling for years or this is your first time reaching out, I meet you exactly where you are. There is no right or wrong way to do this. Healing is a personal process that happens at your own pace, not a race to a finish line.

IFS is based on the idea that our minds are made up of different parts rather than just one single voice. Think of it like a group chat where different parts of you chime in with their own opinions, memories, or fears. We work together to identify these parts—like an inner critic or a side that feels the need to protect you—so you can lead your life with more clarity and calm.

While talk therapy is great for working through your thoughts, breathwork addresses the stress and tension that your body holds onto. It is an intentional practice that helps your nervous system shift from a state of high alert into a state of rest. It is a powerful way to get your mind and body working together as one.

These sessions are all about building the tools you need to connect with others more effectively. We focus on practical skills, like how to clearly state your needs and how to really listen to a partner. The goal is to help you move forward with more confidence and less weight from your past.

I am in-network with several providers, including Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. I also support out-of-network reimbursement and accept payments through Venmo and Cashapp to make the logistical side of things as easy as possible for you.

Both. I have a welcoming office in Jonesborough, Tennessee, for in-person sessions, and I also provide telehealth for anyone living in Tennessee or Florida. My goal is to make sure you have a safe and comfortable space to talk, no matter where you are located.

Standard therapy and breathwork sessions are one hour long and cost $100. I also offer specialized group programs, such as dating skills or trauma healing groups, for $50 per session to help keep these resources accessible for everyone.
